Definitie en formule van absolute alcohol

Absolute alcohol is een veel voorkomende naam voor de chemische verbinding ethanol. Om als "absoluut" te worden aangemerkt, mag de ethylalcohol niet meer dan één procent water bevatten. Met andere woorden, absolute alcohol is vloeibare alcohol die ten minste 99 gewichtsprocent zuivere alcohol is.

Ethanol is een kleurloze vloeistof met molecuulformule C₂H₅OH. Het is de alcohol in alcoholhoudende dranken.
